Elliot Goldenthal scored the movie A Time to Kill in 1996. Its emotional, sweeping themes are typical of Goldenthal's other scores with, often, intense and/or stark emotional motifs.

The track "Pressing Judgment" is used in Goldenthal's score for Titus in a slightly longer version incorporating elements of that film's theme. Due to a typographical error on the Titus score, however, that track is actually called "Aaron's Plea".
